My studio in NYC!

I believe that many people really, really...want to know some information about NYC studio.
Okay, let's me become the reporter temporarily.

The size is about twice as big as my original studio in savannah.
Most important of all, it has a super big window. This is why I am crazy for it.
The only one disadvantage is that you can see through your neighbors and vice versa.

This is not my first time in NYC, so I am not too excited about "The Big Apple."
I start to live in NYC, not visiting it.

From doorway peeping into...

I think I am crazy, and I don't know if this is good or bad for me.
Because I start to like "chaos" and "scatter." I left everything I used on the desk, on the ground, on the chair....everywhere. This is not what I was before....
Maybe this is because of sunny window....

Chelsea's September 02-James Cohan Gallery

http://www.jamescohan.com/ This month James Cohan Gallery opens fall season with three sperate exhibitions: Xu Zhen, Folkert de Jong, and Martha Colburn.
Among them, I like the first two works.
In the front gallery, Chinese conceptualist Xu Zhen transforms the gallery into a replica of a Shanghai convenience store. I saw this "fake" store in Art Basel Miami Beach, 2007. Actually, I saw these kind of store everywhere, when I was in Asia. The only difference is the brand of product and the contents--there is no real food inside. You can buy anything you want, but only form, no content.
The other one is Dutch sculptor--Folkert de Jong. He uses all kinds of industrial materials to construct his "funny" world. This piece references Goya's famous 1814 painting, El tres de mayo de 1808 en Madrid. They are so large and near that viewers can witness their "ridiculousness" in person.

Chelsea's September 01-Vik Muniz

Since we have so many shows at the same time, I cannot finish each of them. Therefore, I just pick up several exhibitions, which I still have impression...right now.

First, it's "verso," Vik Muniz's solo show in SIKKEMA Jenkins & Co. gallery. http://www.sikkemajenkinsco.com/index.html
After walking into the gallery, you will be stunned by the way he presents his works. At beginning, viewers think that he takes all master piece from famous museums, including MoMa, Mets, Guggenheim..., and then show their back side and lean on the wall. I really really...want to turn these paintings and check if "Van Gogh" is here. After checking the catalog, we finally figure out "everything is fake." The artist spent a lot of time copying and mimicing these historical marks.
